What to Expect at Your First Appointment

During our first appointment, I’ll take the time to understand why you’re seeking speech pathology services and what you hope to achieve.

Here’s what we’ll do:

Review Background Information: We’ll go over the information you’ve already provided to get a clear understanding of your concerns and goals.

Build Comfort and Connection: We’ll usually start with a relaxed chat or play-based activities to help the client feel comfortable while we observe their communication skills.

Conduct Assessments: We’ll use a combination of standardised (formal) and informal assessment tools, along with interviews with parents, teachers, support workers, and others involved in the client’s care.

Gather Additional Insights: If relevant, we may need to gather information from other professionals. If you have any reports or letters that might help us better understand the client’s needs, please bring them along.

Our goal is to create a supportive, informative, and engaging experience right from the start.
