Bayside Speech, Language and Dyslexia Therapy
Literacy Support - Dyslexia Therapy

Dyslexia therapy can be a life-changing experience for those who struggle with reading and writing. The therapy approach is designed to help individuals overcome their challenges and improve their skills. With the right support and guidance, dyslexia doesn't have to hold you back from achieving your dreams.
We offer dyslexia intervention delivered by either a speech pathologist or one of our specialist literacy tutors. Our tutors are trained in structured, evidence-based literacy approaches, including the Orton-Gillingham approach, Sounds-Write, and other evidence-based methodologies. They work closely with children to develop reading, spelling, writing, and literacy skills through explicit, systematic instruction tailored to each child's individual needs.
Whether your child requires intensive support from a speech pathologist or ongoing intervention with a specialist tutor, our team is committed to helping them build the skills, confidence, and strategies needed to become successful readers and writers.
I also offer parent consultation to support you and your family with communication and adaptations for school and work.

Why is early intervention important?
Early intervention can make a significant difference in a child's academic success, confidence, and overall wellbeing. Learning to read is one of the most important skills children develop in the early years of school. By around Grade 3, the focus of the curriculum begins to shift from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." Children are expected to use their reading skills to access information across all subjects, including science, history, mathematics, and health.
When reading difficulties are identified and addressed early, children are more likely to keep up with their peers and access the curriculum successfully. Early support can help prevent gaps in learning from widening over time, reducing the risk of ongoing academic struggles.
Just as importantly, early intervention helps protect a child's confidence and self-esteem. Children who experience repeated difficulties with reading may begin to avoid reading tasks, lose confidence in their abilities, and become disengaged from learning. Providing support early allows children to experience success, build resilience, and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
Research consistently shows that targeted, evidence-based intervention delivered as early as possible leads to the best outcomes, helping children develop the skills they need to become confident, independent learners.
